Family Beginnings
Emma Marella
Emma has been working to support families since 2005, when she started working as a nanny. She began her training at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg taking courses in Early Childhood Education. In 2015, she continued her education with Childbirth International and attended her first birth in 2018. In addition to supporting private clients through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, Emma also works as a birth doula for a regional non-profit that provides doulas to underserved and at-risk families. In 2020, Emma became a certified GentleBirth Instructor and now teaches GentleBirth classes, both as private classes and in group settings.
While working as a nanny, Emma developed a passion for women’s health after she discovered that many families had needs that were going unmet during the earliest phases of parenting. She had been lucky enough to have a positive birth experience before placing her child for adoption and endeavors to provide others with support during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum to help give their families the best start possible.
As a member of the LGBT community, Emma has a particular interest in advocating for non-traditional families, ensuring that they receive the same compassionate care as any other. She strives to make sure that her services are inclusive to parents and children of all identities.
In her free time Emma enjoys spending time with her younger sisters, taking part in programs offered at Groton Public Library, and is an active member in her local faith community.
